Interview with CNA on winning the 18th IMAs

The 18th Independent Music Awards winners have been revealed. Los Angeles based Taiwanese composer Ian Chen won Best Film / TV / Game Score with his original soundtrack for video game Fantastic Creatures. CNA nabbed an exclusive interview with Ian Chen, talking about winning the IMA award and COVID-19's disruptions in the film industry.

Taiwanese artists win seven Independent Music Awards

New York, April 28 (CNA) Taiwanese artists won in seven categories -- the most in history -- at the 18th Independent Music Awards, the results of which were announced Tuesday, according to the Taipei Cultural Center in New York.

The seven winning Taiwanese artists included composer Ian Chen who received the award for Best Film/TV/Game Score for his original soundtrack to the Fantastic Creatures game.

April 10, 2019 – Taiwanese film composer Ian Chen was named by Music Resource Group (MRG) today as a Nominee in The 17th annual Independent Music Awards (The IMAs), the influential awards program for independent artists and releases. Innovative self-released and indie label projects - in all styles and mediums were nominated by fans and industry panelists in 103 Album, Song, EP, Music Producer, Music Video and Design categories that were culled from thousands of submissions worldwide.

Ian Chen’s Original Soundtrack for THIS LAND is nominated for Best Score (Film/TV/Game) alongside Paul Terry’s Original Soundtrack for SUDNEY & FRIENDS and Kristoffer Lo’s Original Soundtrack for TRONDHEIMSREISEN.

More than 400 artists will be honored at The 17th IMA ceremony on June 22 in New York City including: Masta Ace & Marco Polo, Miss Tara, Prateek Kuhad, Foreigner, Juliana Hatfield, The Motels, Mark Erelli, Ella Vos, Maria Muldaur, QUOR, Pedro Luís, Bleu, Nsimbi, Marta Gómez, Firkin, Bombay Ricky, Jackknife Stiletto, Lucy Wainwright Roche, David Chesky, and Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats.
